BISC FAQ’s

What are the differences in the classes? What class is right for me?

Sessions are 3 week classes, 2 hours, that teach you how to (Week 1) Throw - Make 2 Pieces on a pottery wheel, (Week 2) Trim - Clean up your pieces and then creatively work on them before it’s fire the first time, (Week 3) Glaze - Add the final color to your pieces and have them glaze fired to finish the pieces.

Play with Clay is a One Time 50 minute version of a Throwing Class. You will be able to make one piece working on a pottery wheel. Then you get to choose what glaze you want the piece to be. The piece is then trimmed and glazed. You pick it up 2 weeks from when you made the piece.

Open Studio is being able to work in the wheel independently. It is $15 an hour and $2 per pound of clay you want to use. There are no teachers, no instructions, just you and the clay. We do have tutorials on our website, and we encourage watching other tutorials on youtube. There is no qualifications necessary to sign up. Open Studio is encouraged for anyone to get an outside the classroom experience with Clay. Firing fees are not included, if you don’t keep your pieces you are not charged extra.

Do you do events, birthday parties, girls night outs?

Yes! The Play with Clay class dates can be modified for a single event. So any Saturday or Sunday afternoon/evening can be booked for a private session. Max number for the group for a wheel throwing event is 6. Max number for a hand building or glazing event is 10. Email biscpotterystudio@gmail.com to let me know what date and time you want to book and I’ll create the event.

Want me to come to you?

Just email me and we can talk logistics. As long as you have the capacity to have enough tables and chairs and I have access to water to fill my clean up buckets as to not damage you drains with clay, I can do an event anywhere.
